Josh is a Managing Risk Assessment Scientist with over ten years of experience in exposure and risk assessment. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with a BS in Chemical Engineering. His training and areas of expertise include industrial hygiene, quantitative exposure assessment and modeling, human health risk assessment, air modeling, occupational safety, statistics and probabilistic modeling techniques, chemical engineering, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and thermodynamics.

Josh maintains an exposure and risk assessment practice focused on pragmatic problem-solving for clients with occupational health and safety needs. He has expertise in the design of occupational health assessments with both measurement and modeling components. He has demonstrated success in the design and execution of exposure simulation studies for both volatile liquid and particulate agents. He has experience developing regulatory compliance programs and has provided scientific support to expert witnesses in litigation projects.

Josh’s project work has included occupational, consumer and environmental exposure assessments. He has experience evaluating exposures to physical and chemical agents including, but not limited to: asbestos, benzene, carbon monoxide, caustic/acidic vapors, chlorinated solvents, diacetyl, ethanol, formaldehyde, glycol ethers, diesel exhaust, diesel and gasoline fuels, hexanes, silica, toluene, xylenes, ionizing radiation, noise, and excessive heat. His research interests include quantification of consumer and non-occupational exposures to toxic chemicals, design of simulation studies to recreate historical exposure scenarios, improvement of exposure assessment methodologies, and improving the effectiveness of hazard and risk communication methods.
