Ms. Kathy Chan is an Associate Risk Assessment Scientist with four years of experience in exposure and risk assessment. She holds a B.S. in Public Health with a concentration in Nutritional Biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her training and areas of expertise include exposure modeling and assessment, human health risk assessment, toxicology, biochemistry, and industrial hygiene.
Kathy has experience with characterizing occupational, consumer, community, and environmental exposures to chemicals including heavy metals, phthalates, food flavoring compounds, vinyl intermediates, and asbestos in various products and settings. She has evaluated chemical exposures in the context of regulatory compliance, as well as for expert support in litigation matters. Kathy’s current research interests include development of quantitative exposure models, particularly related to chemicals in consumer products and foods, application of exposure and risk assessment methods to product stewardship practices, and improving risk communication for workers and communities.
